Single Payer Action Confronts Ron Klein

July 1, 2009

Congressman Ron Klein (R-Florida) didn’t know what to do.

Klein was holding a citizen’s forum yesterday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Tyneski Quintel wanted to know why Klein doesn’t support single payer health insurance.

What was he going to say — that he’s powerless in the face of overwhelming insurance industry power?

No.

He just tried to dismiss Quintel.

Who wouldn’t be dismissed.

“Sixty Americans are dying every day because of lack of health insurance,” Quintel said.

“Put single payer on the table.”

Quintel was joined by Austin Case of Single Payer Action.

Both demanded to know why Klein wasn’t supporting the only health insurance reform that both controls costs and covers everyone.

They demanded an answer — why is single payer off the table?

Klein refused to answer.

And Case and Quintel were removed from the room.
